Kryptonite Candy Cane
Caulastraea furcata
The Kryptonite Candy Cane (Caulastraea furcata) is a vibrant, beginner-friendly LPS coral featuring neon, radioactive-green flesh. This hardy branching coral thrives under low-to-moderate lighting and gentle water flow. Regular spot-feeding with mysis shrimp or pellet foods will greatly accelerate its growth rate.

Care guide
Keeping Caulastraea in a reef tank
Caulastraea furcata is the classic candy cane coral, each rounded head sitting on its own slim trunk. It divides by splitting heads at the tip, so a colony builds outward into a dense cluster over time with no intervention beyond feeding and stable water.
Lighting for Kryptonite Candy Cane
Low to moderate light is plenty. The green and cream fluorescence sits best under blue-weighted lighting, and high intensity tends to bleach the heads rather than intensify them. This particular frag is rated for low light — roughly 50–100 PAR, on the sand bed or under an overhang.
Water flow
Gentle flow. The heads inflate softly when settled, and strong current both suppresses that and can rock the colony against neighbouring rock. Flow for this frag should be gentle and indirect.
Placement and tank mates
Bottom of the Tank. Peaceful.
What to watch for
The trunks between heads are brittle and are the usual point of accidental breakage during maintenance. Handle the colony by its base rather than lifting it by a head, and it will otherwise ask very little.
