Care guide
Keeping Sinularia in a reef tank
Finger leathers are hardy, fast-growing soft corals that build no calcium skeleton and ask very little beyond stable salinity and steady light. They branch readily and can be propagated by simply cutting a finger and attaching it elsewhere.
Lighting for Neon Green Sinularia
Tolerant across a broad range. Growth rate rather than colour is what responds to intensity here, and this genus grows quickly enough under moderate light that most tanks need to prune it rather than encourage it. This particular frag is rated for medium light — roughly 100–200 PAR, around the middle of the rockwork.
Water flow
Moderate to strong flow. The branches stiffen and extend in good current, and this genus handles more movement than most softies comfortably will. Flow for this frag should be strong and turbulent.
Placement and tank mates
Bottom to Middle of the tank (can adapt easily to most locations). Semi-Aggressive (peaceful but secretes chemical toxins, so provide space from other corals).
What to watch for
Sinularia competes chemically with stony corals and grows fast enough to physically shade them. Run carbon in a mixed reef, and give it its own rock island if possible — it is far easier to contain early than to cut back later.
