Care guide
Keeping Acropora in a reef tank
Green slimer is the Acropora most people succeed with first. Acropora yongei tolerates a wider parameter range than the genus as a whole, grows fast enough to show visible progress within months, and produces copious mucus — the 'slime' in the common name — which is normal behaviour rather than a stress signal. It is the honest recommendation for a tank's first Acropora.
Lighting for Green Slimer Acropora
Acropora carries most of its colour in the tips, and those tips need real intensity to hold pigment. Move a new frag up the rockwork over two to three weeks rather than placing it at final height immediately; a sudden jump in intensity bleaches tips faster than too little light ever will. This particular frag is rated for high light — roughly 250–400 PAR, on the upper rockwork.
Water flow
Branching Acropora depends on turbulent, randomised flow to drive gas exchange between the branches and to stop detritus settling in the interior of the colony. Laminar flow pointed straight at a colony will strip tissue on the upstream side, so aim for water that swirls rather than blasts. Flow for this frag should be strong and turbulent.

What to watch for
Its growth rate is the main hazard: a frag becomes a colony quickly and will shade and overtop slower neighbours placed above or behind it. Plan its final footprint generously, and prune rather than let it dictate the aquascape.
